LIMITED 5-YEAR PRODUCT WARRANTY

Art Glass Etc., Inc. wood products are warranted for the time period set forth below, subject to the restrictions and conditions which follow, to be free of defects which would render said wood products unserviceable or unfit for ordinary, recommended use.

The warranty period shall be five years from invoice date.

If an Art Glass Etc. wood product does not meet the above stated standards, Art Glass Etc. will, at its discretion either repair the product, replace the product in the original condition supplied to the distributor, or refund the original purchase price paid to Art Glass Etc. for the product.

Unless otherwise expressly provided herein, Art Glass Etc. shall not pay for the cost of labor, installation or finishing of a replacement or original product or for any other cost relating to the replacement of the product, all of which shall be the sole responsibility of the person making the warranty claim. All defects must be reported upon delivery of product to dealer or product shall be deemed acceptable.

LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS

THE FOLLOWING SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED DEFECTS IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP AND ARE NOT COVERED BY THIS LIMITED WARRANTY:

  1. A product which has been trimmed to expose the mortise and tenon joint or dowel joint. Cutting into the mortise and tenon joint voids the warranty. Standard Art Glass Etc. mortise and tenon doors are constructed to allow a maximum of two inches to be trimmed from the bottom rail and one inch to be trimmed from the top rail without exposing the mortise and tenon joint and voiding the warranty;
  2. Products which have not been sealed on all six sides (top,bottom, two faces and two edges) with three coats of exterior grade clear top coat or paint AFTER trimming and hanging. Door surfaces covered by stain alone without three exterior grade clear top coats covering all surfaces shall not be considered sealed. Even if product was delivered prefinished from the factory, any area on product where raw wood subsequently becomes exposed (trimming during installation, for example) must be immediately resealed with three exterior grade clear top coats over raw wood to maintain warranty eligibility;
  3. Products which have not been sealed to above specifications within ten days of delivery to dealer;
  4. Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/4";
  5. Warp for any door that is 1-3/8" thick and wider than 36" and or taller than 84";
  6. Warp for any door that is 1-3/4" thick and wider than 42" and or taller than 96";
  7. Improperly installed products;
  8. Bow or nonalignment in the frame or jamb in which the door is hung, if such is purchased from Art Glass Etc. unmachined and not prehung;
  9. Any 1-3/8" door used as an exterior door;
  10. Any door used as a gate;
  11. Doors with wood panels more than 14" wide;
  12. Damage caused by others or by any circumstance beyond the control of Art Glass Etc. including but not limited to damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, or mishandling, or by fire, flood, earthquake, storm, tornado or other acts of nature; For the purpose of this limited warranty, misuse is defined as, but not limited to, installing a product on any side of a structure without adequate overhang. Adequate overhang depends on the direction the product faces and therefore its' potential exposure to sunlight and rain:

    NORTH, EAST AND NORTHEAST-FACING PRODUCTS: Adequate overhang projection for north-, east- and northeast-facing products is defined as one half of the measurement from the bottom of the product to the base of the overhang structure. See example drawing A.

    SOUTH, WEST AND SOUTHWEST-FACING PROCUCTS: Adequate overhang projection for south-, west- and southwest-facing doors is defined as equal to the measurement from the bottom of the door to the base of the overhang structure. See example drawing B.

    In addition to the correct overhang projection above, the overhang must extend out to each side of the door frame a minimum distance of one (1) foot. These requirements must be met to qualify for warranty coverage.

  13. Failure to perform normal homeowner's maintenance as described in the Art Glass Etc. Door Care and Handling Guide;
  14. Attempts by persons other than authorized Art Glass Etc. representatives to repair products;
  15. Surface checks less than 1/32" wide and/or 2" long;
  16. Panel movement (shrinkage) of 1/8" or less. Temperature and humidity may cause wood panels in your door to shrink, leaving an unstained line along the panel edge. The panels in your door have been designed to "float," which prevents cracking.
  17. Damage caused by extreme temperature buildup where a storm door is utilized.
  18. Natural variations in wood color and texture even within the same door or window;
  19. Appearance of factory finishes after a period of six (6) months from invoice date. If the finish is found to be defective during the first six months, Art Glass Etc., Inc. will, at its' discretion touch up the finish, refinish all or part of the product, or issue a payment of up to $325.00 to the owner of the home in which the product is installed.
  20. Discoloration or rusting of: decorative metalwork such as clavos, peekeasy doors, speakeasy grilles, strap hinges, etc.; performance or appearance of any wood sill; variations in distress patterns.
  21. Placement, size or quantity of knots in Knotty Alder or Knotty Cedar; Raised grain on wire brushed surfaces;
  22. Leakage of water between wood and glass, as this would indicate that the wood products are exposed to excessive weather, thus voiding warranty;
  23. Warp, bow or any problem with a Sequoia Series door wider than 36" and/or taller than 84";
  24. Warp, bow or any problem with a traditional plank door in any size without ladder-back support;
  25. Scratches or defects on the exterior surface of glass, unless reported and photographed at time of product delivery to dealer.

If the claimed nonconformity is warp, Art Glass Etc. may defer repairing or replacing the product for a period of up to twelve months from the date of claim or the date when the product was installed, as it is not uncommon for a temporary warp condition to occur as doors adjust to local humidity and temperature conditions. This deferral will not be counted against the warranty period.

Art Glass Etc. insulated glass units will be warranted against seal failure only if installed in the unit by Art Glass Etc.

Claims under this limited warranty must be made in writing within the period of this warranty and prior to the beginning of any repair work to: Warranty Services, Art Glass Etc., Inc., 3111 Golf Course Drive, Ventura, California 93003. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENDS ONLY TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF PRODUCTS OR TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF THE STRUCTURE INTO WHICH SUCH PRODUCTS ARE INSTALLED.

This limited warranty sets forth Art Glass Etc.'s maximum liability for its wood products. Art Glass Etc. makes no other warranty, expressed or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, with respect to its products except as set forth above. No distributor, dealer or representative has the authority to change or modify this Limited Warranty. In no instance shall Art Glass Etc. be responsible for indirect, consequential or incidental damage.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have additional rights, which vary from state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or of incidental or consequential damages, so the limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. IN SUCH CASE, THE DURATION OF ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY SHALL BE THE SAME AS THAT OF THE EXPRESSED WARRANTY STATED HEREIN.

This limited warranty applies to all Art Glass Etc., Inc. products sold after August 28, 2006.
This warranty does not apply to Opening Statements products.

DOOR CARE AND HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS

The following instructions are intended for the use of homeowners in caring for all Art Glass Etc. solid wood products, and are required to maintain warranty protection for all products.

REGULAR MAINTENANCE

Wood doors and window products require regular maintenance and treatment to remain in good condition and appearance. The integrity of the finish must be maintained to insure continued protection of the wood and warranty protection.

On a regular basis (ideally once per month), wipe down all wood surfaces inside and outside with a clean DAMP (not wet) cloth. This will remove airborne dust, dirt and pollution particles, which can scratch, damage and embed in the finish, leaving a dull and dirty appearance. Treat wood windows and doors as you would a fine piece of furniture, and never use caustic or abrasive cleaners.

NEVER direct a garden hose at wood doors, sidelites, windows or sliders!

NEVER allow sprinklers to wet wood doors, sidelites, windows or sliders!

Immediately wipe dry any water that contacts wood products during porch cleaning, etc., including the top and bottom edges of doors or sashes, where water absorption is most likely to occur. Wood products are NOT designed to be exposed directly to water.

The first maintenance check should be made six months after the installation and finish of your wood products, and every six months thereafter. Inspect every surface for cracks in the finish surface, or bare spots where finish may have rubbed off. Cracks in the finish will allow moisture to enter the wood, resulting in cracks, splits and warping in the product. The finish will have a longer life and will require less maintenance if products are not exposed regularly to direct sunlight.

As needed, sand lightly all surfaces with 320 grit sandpaper or 0000 steel wool to remove embedded dirt particles. Next, wipe down all surfaces with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Apply to all surfaces one coat of exterior grade topcoat and allow to dry per product instructions.

During these six-month checks, always be sure to look at the top and bottom edges of doors and window sashes. It is imperative that these critical edges be fully protected with topcoats that are free from cracks or scrapes in the surface of the clear finish. The same is true of painted surfaces.

NOTE: Please keep this guide with your limited product warranty. These procedures must be followed to maintain warranty protection for your Art Glass Etc. wood products.
