Distress and Carvings

Sedona Distress

Sedona Distress is chracterized by deep peck holes and long gouges, and is lighter in effect than Mojave.

Hand Distressing is an application of surface marks and impressions on a door or window that gives the idea of natural age and actual use. In order for the distress marks to appear random and authentic, it is impossible to adhere to a regular pattern like "10 marks per lineal foot consisting of hooks and pecks,' as this would make the patterns appear machine-made. Rancho Collection products are not "damaged" in the process of distressing. Distressing is a form of art and results will vary from one product to another.

Wire Brush Technique

Wire brushing scratches deeply into the surface of the wood, resulting in a rough, raised-grain texture like aged barn wood.
