Installation

Who can install an AG Millworks Door System?

AG Millworks does not require a factory-authorized installer. Your dealer can help you locate a local professional if you do not already have one.

Where do I find installation instructions?

Each product delivery includes a printed postcard with a QR code—simply scan it to access installation guidelines and instructional videos for your installer. If the postcard is accidentally discarded or misplaced, the instructions are easily available on our website under "Learn/How-To". If any questions arise, the installer is welcome to contact us directly for assistance with specific installation needs.

How do I adjust the hinges?

We have a detailed instructional video on how to adjust the first door panel on your bifold door system which ensures smooth operation.

How do I install the hardware onto the secondary panel of a bi-fold door system?

We have a detailed instructional video on how to install the hardware and the locking mechanism onto the secondary panel. Please visit our Instructional Materials page

Where can I find the dead load weight of my unit?

The dead load weight is specified in your quote. To learn more about dead load weight and header deflection, read the "Header Deflection" article.

How much structural header deflection is allowable for a top-hung bi-fold door?

AG Millworks Bi-fold door systems are top hung, so the weight and torque of the sliding/folding door panels pulls downward on the head jamb of the door system and therefore pulls downward on the structural header. Ideally, the structural header should have a slight upward “crown” of 1/8” at the center of the bi-fold opening prior to installation of the bi-fold. Read more about this subject by downloading the "Header Deflection" article.

Does my unit still need a sill pan?

Yes, we recommend adding a sill pan and waterproofing for proper installation for all our units. Multi-Sliding Door Systems, or retractable screens/shades, that enter a pocket within the walls of the home, for example, do require a sill pan to protect the interior of the home from any water penetration. The door system in these instances include a concealer that, under extreme conditions, can allow water infiltration.  As an added safeguard, we recommend installing a 3-sided sill pan with welded corners. To learn more and for a simple diagram of a standard 3-sided sill pan, please refer to our documentation.
